How SWL™ lost all its colors!

Initially, when small wonder-lyzer™ was fabricated, it was a bright colorful device. The membrane rings and the caps were color coded- bright red, yellow, green and blue. Then one day a funny thing happened! A researcher left the device under a particular set of experimental conditions. When he came back, some color from the cap had 'leached' onto the body of the device, coloring it. This got the development team thinking- could colors leach from the color coded membrane rings too? Experiments were performed. Yes, 'colors' from plastics did indeed leach into experimental solutions, though in very small quantities.

Virgin plastics are colorless. They are colored using additives. Under particular experimental conditions, especially when colored plastics come into contact with solutions, these additives can leach out and contaminate solutions, interfere with experiments and lead to misleading results.

To avoid any such problems, small wonder-lyzer™ was made 'colorless'. Only virgin plastics are used in its construction. The caps, the supporting rings of the membrane sac and the body of the device- are all made of virgin plastics, without any coloring additives. Caps are color coded by printing with colored inks only on external surface rather than using colored plastic. This ensures that samples do not come into contact with any 'colored' plastic surface which can possibly leach out contaminants and contaminate precious solutions.

In SWL™ only the membrane sac filled with sample comes into contact with solutions. The plastic supporting rings remain outside the solution! Interestingly, SWL™ is the only device in which no 'accessories' e.g. threads, clamps or plastic frames, floats etc. dip into the solution.

Thus, a small observation that colors could interfere in experiments and create problems for researchers, led SWL™ to lose all its colors!
